The Liverpool Boat Show 2011
The first ever Liverpool Boat Show is set to take place this year at The Albert Docks, Liverpool in the spring, and promises to be a landmark sailing and boating event for the UK. - (My thanks to Fast Track Sailing for the heads-up on this sailing and boating news).
The Albert Dock is close to Liverpool town centre and with the largest collection of Grade 1 listed buildings in Britain, promises to provide a stunning location for this inaugral boatshow. Visitor numbers are expected to be in the region of 300,00 to 400,000, which if realised, will succeed in making the Liverpool Boat Show the biggest event of its kind in Europe.
The Liverpool Boat show is expected to generate in the region of £30,000,000 for the city's economy, and should establish itself as an important show for the UK boating community, along with the Southampton Boat Show and the London Boat Show.
Highlights at the Liverpool Boat Show will include several visiting Tall Ships, a waterfront marina full of used boats for sale, a water-based entertainment programme, and an appearance by the Royal Navy.
Interestingly, there will be access to the Liverpool Boat Show site for non-paying visitors who will be able to enjoy the atmosphere and spectacle of the boats and ships. This promises to stimulate additional interest from people who might not otherwise have attended, an additional benefit for the UK sailing and boating community.
And, for those of you used to meeting at the iconic Guinness Bar in the London or Southampton boat shows - fear not! - the bar will be at the Liverpool Boat Show with a stunning location overlooking the action in the Aqua Theatre on the Canning Dock.

Tickets: There will be free entrance to the boat show site and a selection of the landbased exhibitors and feature boats.
